How to Unlock Apple’s New 2021 iPhone - iPhone 13
It has happened to all of us at some point of the other. The chances of it happening are notoriously higher when you just started using it. We are talking of passcodes on iPhones. Apple requires setting up a 6-digit passcode to use some features such as Face ID on your iPhone 13. So, you thought it was a great idea to set up your new iPhone 13 with a new passcode, right? The only problem is that the 6 digits you thought are bulletproof and no one will be able to come up with them in relation to you, are not coming to you either. You forgot the newly set passcode, entered the incorrect passcode more times than the software was happy about, and the iPhone 13 is locked now. What to do? Read on.
Part I: Everything You Want to Know about iPhone 13
The new iPhone 13 has arrived. It is the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer you today. But, is it? You're right, there are so many models to choose from now that we don't quite know which one is the latest and greatest iPhone we are supposed to buy. If you wanted cold specifications, you'd have gone to the Apple website or read about the reviews on the internet. You wanted a more human, more balanced viewpoint about the new iPhone 13. That is what we are here for, and here is everything you want to know about the new iPhone 13. We spread out the differences between these devices before you in a way that makes sense so you can take a call on which iPhone 13 model suits you best.
I.I The Models
While the iPhone XS lineup had a 'Max' variant, it wasn't until the iPhone 11 that Apple settled on having three flagships - the number, number Pro and number Max. With iPhone 11, Apple launched three flagship models - iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Then the iPhone 12 arrived. And Apple added a fourth model to the lineup, called iPhone 12 mini. The lineup now became iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max.
This year, for 2021, Apple has kept the same formula and incremented the number. Thankfully, there is no fifth model added to complicate your decision further. What are the iPhone models for 2021?
This is the regular iPhone that features new internals in the form of Apple's A15 Bionic processor and camera improvements, chiefly. Like the iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 comes with 4 GB RAM but comes preloaded with iOS 15 (iPhone 12 came with iOS 14).
Go ahead, pick up an iPhone 13, and if you get the feeling that something looks different, but you can't tell what, you wouldn't be wrong. The iPhone 13 doesn't just get the customary new internals. The one change you'd notice on the outside is related to something that divided the world ever since it was featured in iPhone X. You'd have guessed it by now - it's the notch. The notch is smaller in the iPhone 13. While you might have wanted it to be completely gone, but good grief, finally we have about 20% more real estate there. That's about enough space for Apple to include the battery percentage. It has not done that yet, but now that we have the space for it, we can hope Apple gives the notched iPhone 13 that option.
Dimensionally, the device is slightly larger than the iPhone 12. Apple says that iPhone 13 will provide a longer battery life than the 12 and that is because of both a slightly larger battery and improvements in the A15 Bionic SoC (System on a Chip).
iPhone 13 Mini
iPhone 12 mini was a shade smaller than the iPhone 6/7/8 and the SE 2020 as we know that design today. iPhone 13 mini, though slightly thicker and deeper than iPhone 12 mini, is still a Mini. Who is it for?
The ones who want and value pocketability more than anything in a phone and will whip out their iPad mini or iPads when they want to do some thorough reading and browsing. Those are the ones who will love this iPhone 13 mini because while being pocketable, Apple has managed to squeeze an extra two hours in battery life of the iPhone 13 mini in comparison to its predecessor, the iPhone 12 mini. The iPhone 13 mini weighs a neat 33 grams less than the iPhone 13, at 140 grams versus 173 grams for the iPhone 13. This is a weight difference that you will notice in your pocket.
The phone is equipped with the same A15 Bionic and 4 GB RAM as well as the smaller notch like its larger sibling iPhone 13 and comes preloaded with iOS 15. There are camera improvements in the iPhone 13 mini as well, enabling Cinematic Mode and Photographic Styles on the iPhone 13 mini as well, akin to the iPhone 13.
iPhone 13 Pro
This is a regular iPhone 13 with further improvements to the camera system, the display, and the chassis that earn it a Pro moniker in Apple-speak. What are these differences in comparison to iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini?
The first difference you will notice the moment you pick an iPhone 13 Pro is its weight. The iPhone 13 Pro breaches 200 grams and sits at 203 grams. For comparison, the iPhone 13 was 30 grams lighter at 173 grams and the iPhone 13 mini was 33 grams lighter than the iPhone 13 at 140 grams, which makes the iPhone 13 Pro 63 grams heavier than the iPhone 13 mini.
The sidebands on the iPhone 13 Pro are made of stainless steel instead of aluminum as on the iPhone 13 and 13 mini. iPhone 13 Pro gets a third lens in form of a telephoto lens to accompany the wide and ultra-wide lens that is also present on the 13 and 13 mini. The Pro is also equipped with a LiDAR Scanner for enabling some camera and Augmented Reality features. The iPhone 13 Pro will last for 22 hours when playing video as against 19 hours for the iPhone 13 and 17 for the iPhone 13 mini, as per Apple. This makes the iPhone 13 Pro's battery life 5 hours more than the iPhone 13 mini. For reference, the 12 and 12 Pro shared 17 hours of battery life whereas the iPhone 12 mini was slated to last 15 hours while playing video.
iPhone 13 Pro Max
The iPhone 13 Pro Max represents the very best Apple offers to customers today in the iPhone lineup. The iPhone 13 Pro Max comes as the largest of the iPhone 13 lineup owing to its screen size and weight of 238 grams. This means that it is 35 grams heavier than the iPhone 13 Pro, but compared to the predecessor iPhone 12 Pro Max, this is an increase of 12 grams as the 12 Pro Max came in at 226 grams. From the iPhone 13 mini perspective, this is a 98 grams difference. So, if weight is a factor for you, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the heaviest of all iPhones.
Apple has brought some interesting colors to the iPhone 13 lineup this year.
iPhone 13 and 13 mini are available in PRODUCT (RED), Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Pink while the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are available in Silver, Gold, Graphite, and the highlight color this year, Sierra Blue.
I.III Display Size
Display size is one way Apple differentiates its iPhone lineup. The iPhone 13 mini is the smallest of all and the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the largest. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro share the same screen size and physical dimensions.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini feature what Apple calls a Super Retina XDR display whereas the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, enabling a 120 Hz screen refresh rate on an iPhone for the first time ever.
iPhone 13 mini: 5.4 inches
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro: 6.1 inches
iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6.7 inches
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max displays are the brightest displays Apple has brought to the iPhone.
I.IV: Common Features
Those were the differences. Now, here is a short list of what's common to all iPhone 13 range, no matter which one you pick:
5G Capability and Dual eSIM Support
The iPhone 13 range builds on the iPhone 12 range for 5G capability by supporting more bands than the iPhone 12 lineup. 5G modems are the same across the iPhone 13 lineup. the iPhone 13 lineup supports dual eSIM for the first time ever in iPhones. You do get a physical SIM tray for one nano-SIM though, so don't sit up.
You might be wondering if you will get the highlight Cinematic Mode if you were to pick the cheapest of the iPhone 13 lineup, that is, the iPhone 13 mini. The answer is yes, you will. All iPhone 13 models support Cinematic Mode.
Water Resistance and Charging
All iPhone 13 models feature the same IP68 water resistance (that is a depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes) and feature MagSafe charging. No differences here, except that the iPhone 13 mini is still capped at 12W charging with MagSafe, just like the iPhone 12 mini was.
Part II: Why Is Your iPhone 13 Locked?
There can be a few reasons why your iPhone 13 is locked, the primary ones being that you bought a second-hand iPhone 13 from someone who set it up with a passcode and decided it wasn't for them and was nonchalant enough to sell it to you without removing the passcode from the iPhone 13, or that you forgot the passcode to your new iPhone 13 and entered it incorrectly a few times. In any case, help is at hand.
Part III: How to Remove The Passcode of Your iPhone 13
We understand how frustrating it can be when your newly purchased iPhone 13 does not unlock because of a passcode entry issue, and all you want to do is get the screen unlocked. III.II How to Remove iPhone 13 Passcode with Find My (iPhone)
Find My allows you to unlock your iPhone remotely if you want to. So, if you have forgotten the passcode and are unable to unlock your iPhone 13, there is a way you can unlock it using Find My. Doing this will wipe your data from the device and set it up as new, though. Here is how to do that:

Step 2: Under Find My (or Find My iPhone if you are using the iCloud website), select your iPhone 13 and click Erase iPhone and confirm.

Step 3: Select Restore to download and reinstall the latest iOS on your iPhone and unlock your iPhone 13.
